What happens when (not if, but when) maintenance needs to performed around
or behind this product?

Weston has experience with an acrylic product called Smart Coat distributed
by Lifetyme Exteriors. http://www.lifetymene.com/smartcoat/index.php The
Historical Commission recommended it on an 18th century building with old
clapboards and trim when the owners, a school, felt their only alternative
was to tear off the clapboards and replace with vinyl siding.
The paint has been on the building for three years now. It looks great,
allowing one to see the texture and size of the clapboards. The color used
was more authentic than would have been possible with vinyl siding. There
is no buckling or peeling.
The distributors assure me that there is no PVC in their product and the
chemical analysis and environmental data are given on the web.
