This is good information. Would it be possible for you to provide a source
for this info? If we are to use such arguments in review cases, it is
helpful to be able to cite the authority. The fact that you are an
architect helps, but may not be sufficient

>Pulturded fiberglass windows are significantly different than vinyl and
>aluminum windows in the following respects:
>They are much stronger, even stronger than aluminum of the same profile.
>They have roughly the same coefficient of expansion as glass. Hence the
>seal between the glass and the window tends to remain much tighter.
>Unlike vinyl they can be painted a dark color if desired. Vinyl windows
>cannot be painted a dark color because they begin to soften at about 140
>degrees F.
>They are very energy efficent, even more efficient than aluminum clad wood
>windows.
>Vinyl is very brittle at cold temperatures and susceptable to UV breakdown
>over a period of years - it will yellow with age. Fiberglass can withstand
>temperatures from -40 degrees F to + 200 degrees F and does not yellow with
>age.
>Fiberglass in its manufacture is less harmful to the enviornment than
>vinyl.
>In comparison to aluminum fiberglass consumes far less energy in its
>fabrication.
>They are more durable than wood or vinyl windows.
>They are typically shop painted with a power coating. They can be field
>painted but field painting would require periodic maintenance.
>They do not have the "sheen" of vinyl windows.
