Subject: [MassHistPres] Butters Farmhouse, Wimington, MA

> Hello All -
>
> As those of you following our story may know, the town of Wilmington, MA
recently purchased the historic William Butters II Farmhouse, a First Period
half house in Wilmington, in order to save it from demolition. The purchase
was accomplished through the dedication and hard work of our local
Historical Commission, most especially Commission Chair Carolyn Harris whose
commitment to this cause was inspirational to all involved.

> Now that we own the house - what do we do with it?
>
> We know that the first thing necessary is a complete inspection of the
house and its mechanical systems is critical. The house clearly needs some
rehabilitation. It is most likely that the house will be put in good order
and continue to serve as a private residence, either privately owned (with
preservation restrictions placed upon it) or leased to tenants by the town.

this type of project? Are any grants available for any aspect of this work?
It is my understanding that three steps are involved with any project of
this type - the study phase, planning phase, working phase. Any and all
ideas are welcome. If you wish to speak to me on the telephone, just let me
know a good time to call you, as I am not in the office every day myself.
