Marvin, NORCO  (AKA jeld win) make replacement sash, with endless options- wood interior/wood exterior, primed, unprimed, clad exterior, etc. different lite patterns, bars between the windows or not, etc etc. Marvins are the most expensive but NORCO is as good. I would be careful about less expensive windows. In the end you don't save money. I believe that the state building code now requires that replacement sashes/windows meet the energy code.  Single pane windows no longer met the standard. However storm windows-interior or exterior do get you close enough. I order my windows through Leslie at MacLeod and Moynihan in Watertown.
