Rachel,
Two historic paint color consultants you may wish to contact:
Monique Lehner
Hingham, MA
781 - 749-1806
Andrea Gilmore
Building Conservation Associates
Dedham, MA
781 329 - 4145
I have not worked with either directly, but Monique Lehner researched
and wrote the Concord HDC's Approved Colors List. Ms. Gilmore consults
and is well-known and highly regarded.
Best of luck on the project.

Subject: [MassHistPres] FW: recommendations for interior restoration -
Greetings -
a group of citizens in Stoughton Ma has been restoring a (town-owned)
farm house. After much patching and sanding, we have arrived at the
paint and paper stage.
We would like to consult with a knowledgeable person about appropriate
materials and colors for the woodwork, wainscoting and walls - and also
to discuss the treatment recommended for the floors which are original
wide-board type.
The property will eventually be used for public functions and our
choices should reflect consideration of a variety of tastes, and at the
same time, have a connection with the period.
I am looking for reference to an individual, or a consulting group that
will help us over this hurdle. A single visit to the property, perhaps
one hour of time, is all that may be needed.
Thank you for your recommendation
Rachel Morton
