Some of you may have heard that my company is in the process of
dismantling the Bernard Capen House in Milton. Dendrochronology has
dated the house to 1675. It features beautiful chamfered beams,
raised paneled fireplace walls, and many other architectural
features. The house was actually dismantled once before- in 1909 it
was moved from Dorchester to Milton. They did a wonderful job of
documentation in 1909 (measured drawings, photos, notes, sketches,
etc) and faithfully rebuilt it. We are documenting the house once
again and storing the parts and components in several trailers.
I'm writing to let folks know that we are looking for a new home for
this rare and significant house. If you know anyone who might be
interested in having us re-assemble this house on their property,
have them contact me.
