SECOND ANNUAL HISTORIC TIDEMILL CONFERENCE, to be held November 3&4, 2006 at
the Dorchester Historical Society in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
A featured speaker will be Alexander Gorlov, inventor of the helical turbine
for use in tide mills.

>From earliest days, enterprising peoples of North and South America took
advantage of the Atlantic Coast's topography, damming coves or marshes and
setting water wheels to harness the power of the tides. More than four hundred
tide mills stretched from Maine to the Amazon. The sounds of their grinding
millstones and the snarling rasp of their saws have been silent now for more
than three quarters of a century. But here and there, the remains of this
once-thriving activity can still be seen along the edge of the tide. And
forward-thinking entrepreneurs on two continents are seeking ways to rejuvenate this
age old technology.

Please alert those you think might be interested.

Thank you.
