The Concord HDC Guidelines read, "Stamped asphalt and concrete made to
simulate other material is not appropriate. Pavers of concrete or
asphalt made to simulate brick or stone are not generally appropriate."
They have not varied much from this guideline, whether the Town or
private property owners have been the applicant.

Does any Historic District allow cement pavers in their districts?
I am on the Old & Historic District Commission in Marblehead. About 10
years ago, the Board allowed the cement pavers as they were marketed to
be longer lasting and have the same look as the clay bricks. However,
we are finding that the cement pavers fade over time and look like
cement and our present Board is strongly against them. We are struggling
with homeowners with this issue at present. Please let me know how your
Historic District feels about the cement pavers. Thank you.

Marblehead Old & Historic District Commission
