The most dangerous time in the life of a building can be when it is
being restored because of the use of soldering and heat guns.
Recently a palace in russia burned -- the metal roof was being worked
on. I once saw the medieval timber roof of the Mechelen Cathedral in
Belgium burn -- the lead roof was being worked on. Now see the
article linked below about a Sullivan building just lost in the same
way.
