I have been asked to circulate a student request for examples of projects
that have used the 10% Federal Historic Preservation Investment Tax Credit.
Please see below.
Susan Ceccacci
Historic Preservation Consultant
Jefferson, MA
I am currently finishing my master's thesis for
completion of my degree from the School of The Art
Institute in historic preservation. The topic is
Tracking the 10% Federal Rehab Tax Credit and was
chosen due to lack of information on the credit;
unlike the 20% that is tracked and reviewed, the 10%
is just an item line on an IRS form.
I am wondering if any of your clients were recipients of the
credit. Below is an example given to me by the NTHP.
Case studies are essential to understanding the
credit's use and general purpose. I would be happy
to respect your client's privacy by not mentioning names
in the study.
Please let me know if you can help me with my
research. I appreciate your time and consideration of
my request.
Best regards,
Stacey Pfingsten

10 percent Rehabilitation Tax Credit
* The $730,000 rehabilitation of a former commercial grocery store into
_Federal Hill Fitness_
(http://www.ntcicfunds.com/library/case_study_MSTCI_Federal_Hill.pdf) (pdf, 141 kb), a boutique fitness center will benefit from
$53,000 in tax credits. The owners were able to maximize the amount of the
redeemable credit by invoking the _real estate professional_
(http://www.ntcicfunds.com/taxcreditguide/glossary.html#realestate) allowance. The result of
their efforts is a high-quality amenity in the historic Federal Hill neighborhood
of Baltimore.
