[MassHistPres] Referrals for contractors

Hello, One recognized need is for additional experienced preservation
architects, contractors etc. in western Mass.. Altho most preservation
specialists travel, there is a strong desire to patronize local business in
most parts of the state, and to presumeably also hold down costs without
sacrificing quality. There is also some misinformation on compliance with
bidding requirements regarding the "lowest bid" rather than the lowest
qualified bid. In my experience, its important for local commissions to be
made aware of preservation specialists in their region. Marcia Starkey,
Greenfield
