Olivia- There are many redevelopment authorities in the state under MGL
c.121B. Most have a bad reputation from the clear-cutting philosophy of
the 1960's-70's, somewhat deserved. However, the redevelopment efforts
under 121B that take place now can be more context-sensitive, often
involving rehab rather than demolition. Lowell has done some recent urban
renewal that I think is a more recent example of how it can work.
