this is from my sister Barbara, nee 1951:

My favorite memory, or strongest, is playing with Duncan yo yo's on the 
playground ( 5th grade), everyone watching the sky for missiles,  and me 
parroting Mom with "they are not that stupid and won't attack". I still 
remember feeling like a sage at that point. It's so bizarre because I 
remember being under my desk during a drill and thinking that right, this 
desk for sure will save me. Not.
