[MassHistPres] economic partnerships for historic preservation

Can anyone point me to published case studies or projects highlighting
partnerships between a commercial entity and towns/private groups with
the intent to preserve historic homes in a town center?  The idea I'd
like to research is to find businesses that would be willing to
refurbish old historic homes to use as their businesses rather than tear
them down.  Also, does anyone know of economic incentives, such as tax
breaks, that can or have been used by Massachusetts towns to encourage
such a scenario?
