The MA Department of Conservation and Recreation's Office of Cultural
Resources (OCR) is currently developing the sixth installment of its
Terra Firma technical bulletin series on historic landscape preservation
(for previous installments, please see
http://www.mass.gov/dcr/stewardship/histland/publications.htm). The
upcoming Terra Firma will focus on the unique preservation issues
related to town commons.

OCR plans to include case studies of town common success stories and
challenges and the processes under which these issues developed; and
we're looking for examples to highlight from communities throughout the
Commonwealth. Possible topics could include (but are not limited to):

*	Feature Accretion
*	Soil Compaction
*	Memorialization
*	Tree Care
*	Lack of Use
*	Overuse
*	Parking
*	Recreational Facilities (playgrounds, pools)
*	Social Paths
*	Vandalism
*	Master Planning
*	Fundraising
*	Friends Groups
*	Graveyards on Commons
*	Historic Commission Review

If you would like to share your experiences in this publication, OCR
would like to hear from you, please contact Shaun Provencher with any
ideas:
