[MassHistPres] Entering Historic District Signs

The Foxborough Historical Commission has a cast aluminum marker with
a black background on a black pole at each end of the district.
The marker includes the Town Seal, the name of the district and a
description of the district that runs about 20 or so lines deep.
The Historic District markers are identical in style and appearance
to 10 (and counting) historic markers around town (some of them two-sided).
The creation and maintenance of these historic markers is included
in the Historical Commission's annual budget.

Wayland has historic district signs at each edge of the district. They do
not say "Entering" or "Leaving" They were a gift in memory of a long time
HDC member. You can see photographs and a write-up of the dedication of the
signs at http://www.wayland.ma.us/WHDC/signs.htm

I cannot think of a downside - only up in that they are generally
informative.
