To each of you who have put sweat, blood and tears into a municipal project, and we know how many of you there are, please accept our invitation to attend the Elihu Thomson Administration Building Open House in Swampscott at 22 Monument Avenue from 1 - 4 p.m. Sunday.
Work started almost one year ago, with a 3 million budget, approved capital expenditure by Swampscott Town Meeting. All systems, including HVAC, electrical, sprinkler, heating were done. The third floor, never before used for public space, has been renovated for offices. An elevator makes the building handicapped accessible from every space, and a "connector" unites the main house with the carriage house where Elihu Thomson worked on x-ray technology, electrical lighting, meters for measuring usage, telescopes, and much more.
The final product is superb. We invite you to come, as we have invited the entire town to see it before the building is reoccupied in a few weeks. It is truly beautiful and we welcome your questions and comments. The Swampscott Historical Commission
