The Arlington Building is on the BLC agenda at 7PM on Monday November
10th, not at 5:30 and it's a preliminary hearing for the commission to
determine whether to accept a new petition for further study. The 5:30
item on the agenda is the designation hearing for the proposed Fort
Point Channel Landmark District. The public is welcome to attend any
part or all of the BLC meeting on Monday.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Arlington Building
The Arlington Building, also known as the Shreve, Crump, and Low
Building is getting another hearing in front of Boston Landmark
Commission on this Monday, November 10 at 5:30 PM. The meeting will be
held in the BRA Board Room #900, 9th floor at 1 City Hall Square.
The building had been denied landmark status previously due to being of
only local historical importance and is now being reviewed as to whether
the building may hold greater significance nationally and
internationally due to its Art Deco facade. I have followed this
process and attended previous meetings. The building that the developer
Ron Druker is proposing for this very important site in Boston (on the
corner of the Public Garden and next to Old South Meeting House) is
mediocre at best, and certainly not worthy of destruction of this fine
building, and several smaller old buildings.
It is my hope that if many people show up to this meeting perhaps Boston
Landmarks will reconsider it's previous position. It certainly doesn't
seem to make sense in these uncertain economic times to destroy existing
usable properties to build an enormous new structure that may remain
empty.
Thank you,
Heather Falcone
