[MassHistPres] Meeting, survey for all historical societies announced

Those of you who are also involved in your local historical society on
preservation and other issues should know about a meeting and survey that
has just been announced.
 
To the best of our knowledge, these are both firsts.  
 

- The Idea Exchange meeting is Saturday, November 1.  This is an opportunity
for board members of historical societies throughout New England to come
together and share ideas peer-to-peer.  The deadline to register for the
meeting is October 17.

- The survey, The Historical Societies of New England: Profiles and Trends,
is for all local historical societies in New England, regardless of whether
or not they attend the meeting on November 1.  The deadline for completing
the survey is October 17.  Societies that participate will receive a copy of
the results.

These are being organized by a group of trustees here in Marlborough with
the goal of creating something that will help us all, including the large
number of all-volunteer historical societies, of which we are one.  Both are
one-time-only events, so regardless of where you live in New England or how
busy you are, we hope that one of these will be convenient for you.
