I have forwarded your ideas on historic colors to my friend, who was amazed and appreciative of your advice before she has her ~1910 Queen Anne Victorian house repainted.
 
Among the sources of information drawing multiple mentions and recommendations were the Cambridge Historical Commission and their publications; Old House Journal; Historic New England; and California Paints.
