[MassHistPres] Renewable Energy for Historic Homes

Mary,

Many thanks for this question. While Nantucket is a historic district over the entire island, there is the core district and the rest of the island. On the rest of the island, several projects are going on (including some of the units we are building for Housing Nantucket which have solar thermal and eventually wind and PV). Downtown there have been a few solar units approved based on limited visability. Mark Voigt at the Historic District Commission could probably detail them more.

I think this is an excellent topic and I hope that if there isn't some sort of Green Meets Historic taskforce for the state, someone can pick up the ball. I would love to particapate and provide my knowledge of green technologies with my background in historic preservation.

Thanks for asking - and I hope to hear more!

Aaron

Executive Director
Housing Nantucket
