Another source for insulation contractors/installers would be the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (web site is NESEA.org) who puts out a Green Pages directory of suppliers, contractors, designers, retailers, etc organized by specialty and/or by state/region.? There are quite a few insulation installers in their listing who do blown-in insulation (cellulose or recycled cotton denim, both of which should be stabilized to reduce or eliminate settling and treated with borates to serve as both an insect and fire protection or foam, either icynene or soy-based are options for the environmentally responsible).? Many of them have experience with antique properties, but, as always, check experience and references.

Foam comes in 2 types - open and
closed cell. The common foam for residential stud construction is open cell,
frequently icynene but we see more and more open cell foam with a soy component
these days.?It is not usually injected into wall cavities but it can be by
experienced installers. If injected the interior finish material must be braced
with another material, otherwise the foam can push it away from the wood studs.
It should only be done by an installer who has done it before, and you'll want
to check with?a previous customer or 2.

Insulation Contractors - CentralMassachusetts
I was wondering if anyone out there could recommend a
contractor who has experience insulating historic houses in central
Massachusetts. We are looking for someone who has experience installing
injection foam insulation into the wall cavity through either the interior or
exterior of the house. Has anyone had any experiences with this type of
insulation (good or bad)?
Thanks in advance,
