[MassHistPres] "Owner's manual" for 1813 federal house?

My daughter and her husband recently bought a large 1813 federal style house in Farmington, NH.  It is in pretty good condition except for the kitchen -- expecially considering that it had been used mostly as a professional office building for the last 30 years. (I regard the state of the interior wood detailing around the fireplaces, windows, stairs, and doors as just short of a miracle!)

But any house that age will need ongoing maintenance. Does anyone know of a good book that would guide the owner of such a house in maintenance, preservation, painting, furnishing, adaptive updating, etc.?  I cannot think of a better housewarming gift - other than money, of course.
