[MassHistPres] Architectural Shingles

On a Shingle style house, the roof should blend with the walls with
shingles applied in a similar pattern to the walls. Irregular shingles
that do not match the walls really stand out. The house is stained a
dark brown. In this case, a lighter shingle would be extremely
prominent and may negatively impact one's perception of the historic
character of the building.
I want to hear about other municipalities approaches to the requests for
architectural shingles on various specific types of buildings.

Kristi,
Do you have a picture of the roof? Has anyone talked with the homeowner
regarding the effect of a lighter colored roof on the temperature of the
attic space and living space?

/itemid/3806/Default.aspx This link is to a color more similar to
cedar shakes... (more similar being key).
Here is another option...

With these shingles I personally feel that color will make a larger
difference than the specific style unless you get really unique.

existing conditions, but to my mind less than optimal.
