Hello,

Please excuse cross-posting and forgive me if this is out of this post is out of the scope of this list, but after no one on the Archives & Archivists listserv could be of assistance it was suggested I ask this list for help.

I am searching for any extant records of the Great Barrington Electric Light Company and am especially interested in the period from 1888-1900. My primary research interests for my current project include line construction, the materials the company imported from Germany in line construction, and the insulators that were used on the lines. I have already consulted the article entitled "Notes on the Reconstruction of a Small Central Station Plant," written by Franklin L. Pope in the Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (27 June 1895) which is, to my knowledge, the only reference to the use of German insulators on an American line this early. That said, does anyone know which repository (if any) currently holds the company papers?

By way of introduction, I am an aspiring archivist who is now a volunteer just getting my feet wet, so to speak, and I am also an avid insulator collector and am trying to figure out if one of the German insulators I own was indeed used on this  line. I have already consulted the article entitled "Notes on the Reconstruction of a Small Central Station Plant," written by Franklin L. Best regards,

Zac Mirecki
