[MassHistPres] Bike Racks?

The Cambridge Historical Commission has issued certificates of appropriateness for bike racks in Harvard Yard (in a Ch. 40C historic district) and in Harvard Square (in a conservation district). I don't think the commission would ever prohibit bike racks; we just want to make sure they are appropriately designed and placed.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Bike Racks?

Are bike racks reviewed by Historic District Commissions? (They are not exempt in our code).

I do not mean to start a basketball hoop-type discussion, but apparently our Greenway Committee has faced resistance from businesses that claim that the Historic District does not allow them (of course, no one asked!). I would like to get some input from the listserve before discussing the issue at our televised meeting.

Thank you for your help,
