We have worked with Boston Sash company in the past. They make a pretty good
wood sash. On their web site they have a table comparing single glazed with
storm to double glazed. The web site is www.bostonsash.com. The chart is
under Energy Rating.

Hi all-

On the larger front of energy conservation and historic preservation,
preservationists may want to become familiar with the efforts being made
here in Massachusetts to address energy consumption in existing buildings.
This morning, there was news that the MA Department of Energy Resources has
begun soliciting proposals for projects that "demonstrate dramatic increases
in energy efficiency in buildings across the Commonwealth."

Fifteen million dollars in economic stimulus funding from the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act is being allocated to this effort which
follows up on recommendations made in the Governor's Zero Net Energy
Building Task Force report of March, 2009 "Getting to Zero." To date, this
effort does not seem to have engaged the preservation community to any large
extent but it certainly warrants our attention as we work to enhance the
operating energy performance in our older and historic building stock.
Links to some of the relevant documents are included below.
