[MassHistPres] replacing windows question

Hello,

The Town of Greenfield is planning to replace its Town Hall 1950s windows of wood with fiberglass sash and frames and insulating polyethlyene closed cell glazing under a state-funded energy grant.

The National Register building is 1870s and 1950s brick probably over Isaac Damon's 1848 frame 2nd Franklin County Courthouse. The specs say only that a high quality sealant will be used at the edges.

Can anyone tell me if there are special challenges with a masonry building for such a project?

Thank you,

Marcia Starkey, chair
Greenfield Historical Commission
