Please join us Thursday Feb. 4th at Mount Auburn Cemetery for the second
lecture of a five-part, brown bag lunch series,* Preservation of a Changing
Landscape. ***

*Ornamenting the Landscape --* Meg Winslow, Curator of Historical
Collections,
will discuss the first monuments erected within the Cemetery and review the
new taste for memorials introduced within the "sculptured garden."

Our first lecture,* **An Overview of a Changing Landscape*, presented by
Bill Barry, Vice President of Preservation & Facilities, was held on
Thursday January 14, and was a great kickoff to the series.* *Join us in *Story
Chapel* to learn more about how Mount Auburn is preserving and documenting
its historic and ever-changing landscape. These hour-long talks will begin
at *12:15 PM*. *Please bring your lunch. Coffee, tea, and water will be

*Monument Preservation & Repairs* – David Gallagher, Chief of Conservation,
will talk about recent repair work and demonstrate “tell-tale” clues about
preservation so that the casual observer will notice these details on the
site.

*Thursday, March 4th:*
*From Clutter to Simplicity* – Natalie Wampler, Preservation & Facilities
Planner, will discuss Mount Auburn’s boulder monuments, just one example of
how the Cemetery and families have shaped the landscape and updated
aesthetics.
*Thursday, March 18th:*
*Landscape Character Zones* – Dennis Collins, Horticultural Curator, will
explain the patchwork of smaller landscapes that make up the larger Cemetery
landscape.
