This e-newsletter from the Massachusetts Historical Commission
Preservation Planning Division has been prepared for local historical
commissions, historic district commissions and others interested in
historic preservation activities around the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts. It is published roughly every other week. If you have
suggestions or items of interest for this newsletter, please contact

MHC PRESERVATION AWARDS
Nominations are now being accepted by the Massachusetts Historical
Commission for the 2010 Preservation Awards. These awards are
present-ed annually to preservation projects or individuals that have
displayed an outstanding commitment to historic preservation in
Massachusetts. Categories include Adaptive Reuse, Archaeology,
Education & Outreach, Individual Lifetime Achievement, Landscape
Preservation, Local Preservationist and Rehabilitation & Restoration.
Nominations must be for activities completed between January 1, 2006 and
December 31, 2009. The deadline for the submission of nomination
packages is Monday, March 1, 2010 at 5pm. The nomination form and

WORKSHOP ON HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND GREEN DESIGN
The Cape Cod Commission and Preservation Massachusetts are offering a
workshop on historic buildings and green design. Speakers will include
Sally Zimmerman, Historic New England; Chris Skelly, Massachusetts
Historical Commission; Rebecca Williams, National Trust for Historic
Preservation; Jade Mortimer, Heartwood Window Restoration; and Kevin
Galligan, Cape Light Compact. The workshop will be held March 25, 2010
from 11am-3pm at the Harwich Community Center, Harwich, MA. For more
