The Lexington Historical Society in Lexington, Massachusetts, requests bids for the repairs and alterations of the Munroe Tavern, including a building addition, structural repairs, re-roofing and other repairs to building envelope, systems upgrading and replacement, repair and restoration of the historic fabric, and alterations to make the building handicapped accessible. All work must be performed in accordance with the documents prepared by Rykerson Architecture, available at http://web.mac.com/drykerson/rykersonarchitecture/munroebid.html and meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. State law prohibits discrimination.
A pre-bid site visit will be held at 1332 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington on July 19, 2010 at 1 PM. Bid inquires may be directed to Rykerson Architecture via e-mail to rykersonarchitecture at comcast.net. Bids are due on or before August 3, 2010 at 11 am at the Lexington Historical Society, P.O. Box 514, Lexington, MA 02420. Bids will be evaluated on the basis of price, previous experience with similar
types of construction projects, ability to perform the work in a timely manner, and references. Construction must commence by September 1, 2010.

Amendments, responses to inquiries, and modifications will be posted on that site until July 30, 2010 , after which there will be no additional alterations.
Read and understand bid documents. Seek clarifications if necessary. It is the bidder’s responsibility to check the Internet site for amendments or modifications prior to submitting a bid. It is the bidder’s responsibility to visit the site and become familiar with the local conditions under which the Work is to be performed. Bidder shall become familiar with, and abide by applicable federal laws, state and local statutes, regulations, and ordinances.
All questions relating to the bid shall be delivered in writing, hard copy to Lexington Historical Society or email format addressed to

Original signed and sealed bids must be received at Lexington Historical Society
on or before August 3, 2010 11am. Late bids will be returned unopened.
Format: Bids shall be submitted on GENERAL BID FORM. Bid must include CONTRACTOR’S QUALIFICATION STATEMENT fully completed.

Timeline: Bid documents available: July 2, 2010.
Site pre-bid conference: July 19, 2010 at 1 PM at the Project Location.
The name of the bidders are to be read aloud at the time of the bid opening. The reading does not determine award of the contract. The Lexington Historical Society shall have the right to reject any and all bids. All bids submitted become the property of the Lexington Historical Society. Upon award, notification will be sent to all participating bidders. The bid is an offer to contract with the Lexington Historical Society prior to the execution of the Contract.
