The Town of Lexington is seeking a qualified historic preservation
consultant or consultants to prepare a National Register context and one
National Register district nomination for properties associated with the
theme "Mid-century Modern Movement in Lexington, Massachusetts." As you
may know, Lexington has one of the largest concentrations of Mid-Century
homes and neighborhoods in the Commonwealth, including our nationally
recognized Six Moon Hill, Peacock Farms and Five Fields neighborhoods.
This project is the beginning of a townwide study of Mid-Century Modern
neighborhoods and buildings, and entails the preparation of a context
for identification, evaluation, and, potentially, registration of
historic resources associated with the Mid-Century Modern movement in
Lexington. The project will also identify neighborhoods and individual
properties that represent the defining characteristics of this movement
as determined by the context study, and analyze certain of these
neighborhoods and buildings for inclusion in the National Register of
Historic Places, as well as substantiate a baseline for further study
and the preparation of future nominations to the National Register of
Historic Places for properties that are determined to meet these
defining characteristics. In addition to the context, the project will
include a single National Register Historic District nomination.
Proposals should be submitted not later than August 6, 2010.

Interested parties should contact the town's procurement officer, Jim
McLaughlin, at jmclaughlin at lexingtonma.gov for a complete copy of the
Request for Proposals. Please contact me directly if you have any
questions.

Many thanks,

Marilyn Fenollosa
