i can't even look at the website...

while having my oil changed today, the ubiquitous/mandatory tv set was on and tuned to cnn...our president was exploiting, i mean explaining the benefits of real american made replacement windows to reduce fuel consumption and save homeowners money...ya, and i save money by throwing my bills in the trash!

'they' must be feeling the heat because they're attempting to steal our identity:
http://www.preservationwindows.net/
http://www.restorationswindows.com/
http://www.homeviewinc.com/windows/index.html

herein lies the truth:
http://www.acereport.org/pvc2.html
http://www.besafenet.com/pvc/about.htm

one of the folks on obama's job's summit advisory board is the ceo of jeld wen windows (ron saxton) http://www.candidatesforsale.com/cgi-bin/display.cgi?page=saxton ...he suggested that there are 3 BILLION windows in america that could be replaced resulting in thousands of jobs for americans...he didn't clarify if the jobs would be in building windows or hospitals for those sick and dying of dioxin (pvc) poisoning...

Yes, but the only place that vinyl lasts for 125 years is in the landfill...

There are some great approaches in their brochure... I usually have the same trains of thought when helping realize that they can maintain a 125 year old slate roof!

  Cheers,

Fantastic! I was always humbled for a moment to be a preservation student whose family lived in a house with vinyl bricks, T1-11 siding, etc and a father who worked in coal mining. I have since reconciled that particular vision. Now I live in the land of shingles - and vinyl siding, trim, or anything isn't allowed. What a change!

Thanks for the interesting read. Still makes me go back to the need for the National Trust to take significant leadership role with the media on preservation issues such as windows and vinyl.

    Aaron
