EcoStar Majestic slates on the reconstructed mansard.  This was
completed 5 years ago.

I am sending this query on behalf of a friend:
 
We need to replace the asphalt shingles on our roof and are wondering
about EcoStar synthetic slate. We've heard it's supposed to be a 50-year
roof and appropriate on a Queen Anne Victorian -- and probably
expensive.
 
Has anyone used EcoStar or other synthetic slate?  Comments,
suggestions?
