Yes, the survey is dreadful, but possibly an entry point to engage the author in further conversation. I hope some of you have the time to send her information about case studies that present the issues more thoroughly.
On a brighter note, here is information on another workshop opportunity in Vermont (apologies if this has already been posted here—the registration deadline was yesterday)

Symposium on Sustainability: Retrofitting Historic Buildings to Save Energy
Friday, June 4, 2010 9:30-5:30, Vermont Technical College, Randolph, VT
Historic Preservation can, and must be, part of the environmental sustainability movement. Continuing to use historic buildings in village and neighborhood centers preserves communities and saves energy. At the same time, weatherization and energy retrofits can significantly reduce operating costs and energy use while improving a building's comfort and performance. Yet questions remain about insulation options, window replacement vs. conservation, the use of solar panels or wind turbines, and replacing historic fabric with "green" materials. This symposium will bring together researchers and practitioners from the energy efficiency and historic preservation disciplines to share latest research, explore best practices, and answer your questions.
Presented by The Preservation Trust of Vermont in partnership with the Clean Energy Development Fund, the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, Efficiency Vermont and Vermont Technical College Center for Sustainable Practices.
