  Subject: [MassHistPres] Water-stained Wallpaper

We recently had a pipe leak that caused staining on original wallpaper in our turn of the century historic house museum.
The wall paper is slightly off-white printed, no flocking or unusual textures.
The stains are brownish and seemingly disappear when dampened but return when it dries.
We are not sure if the stains are from the water, the adhesive, or something else.

Anyone have any suggestions on removing water stains from wallpaper on plaster walls?
Or a resource suggestion would also be welcomed.

  Thanks again. Peace to you.
