[MassHistPres] "apps"

Great question. I hope those out there who have created apps reply to the
list so we can all learn from them.
In our case in Marlborough, we've not created an iPhone app, but one cheap
and easy thing anyone can do--no programming or technical experience
needed--is to create a custom Google map. This can be accessed via any
device with a browser. Details here: http://is.gd/eTA3N. (Note that this
links to a Google site, but I've used a URL shortener to help those whose
e-mail program may split a long URL, thereby returning an error when you
click on it.)
We created a simple one a few years ago for that year's home tour and
embedded it in the event page: http://historicmarlborough.org/Tour2008.html.
Looking forward to read what others have done with mobile apps for iPhone,
Android, or other platforms.
Best--

Subject: [MassHistPres] "apps"
We have recently completed a 50-site Provincetown Historic Walking Tour Map
which has proven very successful. We are now looking to create an "app" for
iPhones and other compatible devices to provide an additional GPS-based
platform for the map information. Have any towns developed similar software
or know of consultants who have experience with this?
