The North Attleborough Hist Com conducted a site visit to a circa 1753 house slated for demolition only to discover original mantels and front door entablature in the style of Asher Benjamin which are in great condition except for many layers of paint. We are wondering how to tell if this is original to him or the work of a skilled local craftsman?

We are looking for anyone interested in the structure of the house and its original details. We are thinking that the basic house was embellished sometime after 1774 to Daniel Stanley or Standley and may have been the Whitaker Inn according to an old 1815 map. Where can we find information on this Inn ?

We have a six month demolition delay by-law and will not take a vote on this issue until March 8th.
