[MassHistPres] Need Historic Document archive and retrieval software recommendations

Martha's Vineyard Camp-Meeting Association (MVCMA) is planning to digitize our historic records and documents, some going back to the 1830s.  We would welcome any suggestions on appropriate software and database programs that others have used to capture, store and retrieve historic documents.  We plan to do the scanning ourselves, but would be very interested in recommendations on database, archival and retrieval software.
