 The New England Landscape Design and History  Association (NELDHA)  
 
Presents  a program on: 
Identification,  Documentation and Preservation of Massachusetts Cultural  
Landscapes. 
Thursday, March 24th – 5:30 to  7:30 p.m. (refreshments 5:30, lecture at 
6:00) 
Boston Architectural College, 100  Massachusetts Ave. (corner of Newbury 
St.) Room  514-515 
SPEAKER: Bonnie Parsons, Principal Planner and  Manager of Historic 
Preservation Programs at the Pioneer Valley Preservation  Commission (PVPC), 
headquartered in West Springfield  
The presentation  will look at several recent trends in the preservation of 
cultural  landscapes.  It will highlight  projects in western Massachusetts 
ranging from the agricultural communities of  Hadley and Hatfield, to 
former industrial towns of South Hadley Falls,  Easthampton, and Ware, and 
communities with strong institutional bases such as  Northfield and Gill.  
Strategies of  tailoring zoning and historic preservation to individual community 
circumstances  will also be addressed.
