The tenth annual Doors Open Lowell, presented as part of Lowell's National Preservation Month activities, will take place May 12-14. The event offers an insider's look into the preservation of over 30 of Lowell's fabulous historic buildings, many not normally open to the public. It's a celebration of urban living and culture where people and preservation have made Lowell a creative and exciting place to live, work, and visit. In 2002, Lowell was the first city in the United States to launch this prestigious event dedicated to built heritage, architecture, and design.
Look for old favorites this year as well as exciting new additions to the roster of participating buildings. Don't miss Doors Open XTRAs where you can enhance your Doors Open experience through interaction with design professionals and other special activities. Buildings will be open Friday May 13 (6-9 pm) and Saturday May 14 (10am - 5pm).
Check the event's website www.doorsopenlowell.org for full event information and regular updates including the roster of participating buildings and map. Look for the program guide in the Wednesday May 11 edition of the Lowell Sun. Program guide will also be available at the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center in Market Mills at 246 Market Street throughout the event.
