To promote local interest (and beyond) in preserving the Old Town Hall, Walpole, Mass., the Walpole Historical Commission will be collaborating with the Walpole Historical Commission in celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War from a local perspective. The old Town Hall is where our Civil War Memorial is located. Currently, the building is not easily accessible to the public since it now houses the Walpole Police Department.

We are hoping publicity beyond the town borders will turn up any artifacts, diaries, photos, related to men from Walpole who served during the Civil War, as well as men and women from Walpole who taught African Americans in the southern states during the War and during the Reconstruction Era.

Thank you.
