Vine Lake Preservation Trust, organized to preserve, enhance, interpret, and celebrate Medfield's historic Vine Lake Cemetery founded in 1651, has scheduled its first-in-a-series of Walking Tours to commemorate our nation's 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

This Tour will be Saturday, October 15th, 2011 from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the cemetery's Old Section along Main Street. Enter the cemetery's lower entrance off Main Street, park on the roads around Vine Lake, and climb the back steps to the Old Section. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water if you wish.

The Tour will feature visits and stories at 24 recently preserved memorials of the 53 Civil War veterans interred there. Participating that day will be the commander, a color guard and drummer, and civilian reenactors from the 28th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

Admission is $5 a person, and students under age 18 are free.
