I agree with Anne, that this an earlier period house, however with my
limited info on the property ( I live in a nearby community) I'm not
sure if this is an important factor. Is this house for sale? The
building is on a large parcel of land, whose primary use is that of a
beer brewery. The historic residence is adjacent to the brewery
building. Has the land been subdivided? If not, then I can understand
(not agree with) the rationale of a property owner not wishing to
maintain a building in which there is no related use to the property's
operation; with the easy option being demolition. If it is not for sale,
is there a way to incorporate the building into part of the brewery
operation? Land caretaker, special events, weddings.....

This email is sent to request advice and hopefully introductions to
businesses or private people who may be interested in a handsome 1850's
house on the Historic Inventory of Westport, Massachusetts. The
Westport Historical Commission (WHC) invoked a delay in its proposed
demolition.

The property is located at 98 Horseneck Road, Westport MA. One of the
architects formerly on WHC visited the site and made the following
comments-- "It is a charming house and could be restored. Despite the
neglected condition of the house, the frame appears to be in good shape.
"

Recent photos attached.

Many thanks Jane Loos, WHC Secretary
