The New Bedford Preservation Society's plaque program has been in place
for nearly three decades. Cathy Potter is their administrator and would
be happy to provide you with any information.

Subject: [MassHistPres] plaques for houses

Amherst has talked about creating a plaque program for owners of
historic properties but not yet actually taken any steps in that
direction.

In the meantime, then, we occasionally receive queries from residents
asking how they might best mark the historic character of their
structures (date, founder's name, etc.) with a plaque or other sign that
they themselves would acquire.

Do you have any recommendations about this with regard to practices,
forms, vendors?

Thanks,

Jim
