MASSACHUSETTS PRESERVATION PROJECTS FUND AWARDS - ROUND 18
The Massachusetts Historical Commission recently awarded $780,000 to municipalities and non-profit organizations through the Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund Round 18. Applications for this round totaled over $2.9 million, making the selection process very competitive. The twenty-one awardees included the following:

Nichols House Museum, Boston
William Hickling Prescott House, Boston
John B. Gough House, Boylston
Brookfield Cemetery, Brookfield
Ames Free Library, Easton
Fall River Waterworks, Fall River
Ames Memorial Chapel, Hingham
Point Allerton Lifesaving Station, Hull
St. Stephens Memorial Episcopal Church, Lynn
Fort Taber (Fort Rodman), New Bedford
U.S. Custom House (Custom House Maritime Museum), Newburyport
Northbridge Memorial Town Hall, Northbridge
Herman Melville House (Arrowhead), Pittsfield
Pilgrim Hall Museum, Plymouth
Salem Common Fence, Salem
Somerville Historical Society (Somerville Museum), Somerville
Dresser-Doane House (Merwin House), Stockbridge
Mission House Barn, Stockbridge
Fogg Library, Weymouth
PROJECT BASED ASSISTANCE OFFERED IN SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS
Roger Williams University Community Partnerships Center provides project-based assistance to nonprofit organizations, government agencies and low-and moderate-income communities in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. They are currently looking for projects that will provide students with real world projects and will benefit the local community. Historic preservation is among the program areas. Previous projects included mill redevelopment feasibility studies, affordable housing design, arts education facilities, neighborhood plans, economic redevelopment research, and historic rehabilitation studies. NEW DEMOLITION DELAY ORDINANCE IN NORTH ADAMS
The city of North Adams has successfully passed a twelve month demolition delay ordinance. Of the 133 cities and towns with a demolition delay bylaw or ordinance, there are now thirty with a twelve month delay period.
