for fine quality hand made sash with mortise and tenon joinery, i recommend these small businesses...it too spoke recently with justin and, though i am happy for his personal choice to move on from sash making, it is a loss to those who appreciate the highest quality of craft and product...he will continue with his line of window hardware so i will list his contact information...

brosco windows are an example of a craft lost...lacking in integrity and craft(wo)menship, the wood is of the poorest quality, the joinery is inferior and the joints are held together with glue and staples....

many companies today use technology manufacturing--CNC (computer numerical controls/code) machines...press a few buttons and the machine cuts and assembles components...eliminates human jobs, dismisses real woodworking, loss of craft, doesn't sit well with me...

  I just met with Justin Smith of Smith Restoration Sash a couple of weeks ago.  He indicated that he is no longer taking new orders and is going to focus on selling restoration window hardware only.  He will no longer be making windows.

    Has anyone put together a list of vendors for single glazed wood windows?
