In Westport, all of our Certificates follow the same rules as building
permits. The building permit (and out Certificates) are valid only for
the person to whom it was issued. If the property is sold, and the work
for which the permit was granted has not been done, the new owner must
reapply. Our Certificate is valid for one year, unless the permit holder
obtains a building permit, in which case the Certificate runs co-terminus
with the building permit. Building permits are also time bound, but can be
renewed.
