Subject: Historic Barn Exhibition - May 4, 2013

Historic Barn Exhibition

David E. Lanoue, Inc. invites you to an exhibition of the restoration of the Bardeen-Culver English Barn from West Newbury, Massachusetts, thought to be the earliest dendrodated timber frame barn in America (1693/1715) as well as the restoration of an 18th century Connecticut River Valley English Barn dendrodated to 1789 from Whately, Massachusetts.

Join us on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at our workshop located at 2 Nolan Drive, Great Barrington, Massachusetts at the corner of Nolan Drive and Van Deusenville Road.

The purpose of this exhibition is to share our team's research, knowledge and preservation efforts concerning two unique, early timber frame barns important to Massachusetts history with various preservation-minded groups and individuals.

The exhibition will feature up-close, hands-on examination of the artifacts and selected, pre-assembled sections of these timber frame structures. Architect, Timber Frame Specialist and Author Jack Sobon of Windsor, MA will talk about preservation and restoration philosophy and methodology at 2:00 p.m. followed by a presentation of the science of dendrochronology (the study of tree ring growth patterns to date the age of archeological timbers) by William Flynt, Architectural Conservator of Historic Deerfield, Inc.

Refreshments will be served.

Please RSVP by Saturday, April 27th to LanoueInc at aol.com. We welcome you to pass this invitation on to others who may be interested in preservation work.
