[MassHistPres] experience with Azek?

Charlie we've adopted the same practices in our work: ground contact and rooftop balustrades and other elements where wood would not hold up. For those interested, we have a case study on our website of replicating a long-gone balustrade in PVC on a Federal period house. We had a small section of the original plus an old photo and were able to provide a convincing replica of the original that should last for a very long time. It can be found here: http://www.landmarkservices.com/blog/bid/27598/Case-Study-Using-fake-wood-in-a-historic-renovation-project

> The Cambridge Historical Commission has adopted a policy in historic districts of allowing cellular PVC in place of ground-contact lumber (like bottom step risers and porch skirt boards) and rooftop balustrades (if traditional profiles are duplicated). Most lumber commonly available today has approximately the permanence of cardboard in these situations, and we do not wish to make homeowners replace these elements more frequently than necessary.
